Formed in Porto in 1990, GENOCIDE hold a crucial place in the history of the portuguese extreme metal scene. At a time when the lusitanian underground was still taking shape, the band stood out through their aggressive fusion of death metal and grindcore, defined by a raw, direct sound with no aesthetic or ideological compromises. Throughout the 90s, Genocide helped shape the most radical edges of the underground in Portugal, leaving a lasting mark with short, violent bursts driven by strong social criticism. Despite long periods of reduced activity, their legacy has remained intact, influencing subsequent generations and securing their status as one of the most respected and lauded extreme metal acts in the country.
