GRAVEKVLT

France

GRAVEKVLT have been establishing themselves as one of the more compelling names in the new French wave that revives the most primitive and irreverent spirit of thrash, speed and black metal. After a series of early short releases, the band began to consolidate their identity in more recent recordings, most notably the self-titled “Gravekvlt” (2023), where their raw and fast language already appeared more cohesive and assertive, and “Full Moon Fever” (2024), which retained the urgency and aggression while bringing a slightly clearer production and a more confident sense of composition, without losing the spontaneity that defines the project’s essence. Gravekvlt’s music thrives above all on tension and velocity: concise songs, simple structures, brief and incisive solos, and an attitude that seems to draw as much from the European underground tradition of the 1980s as from DIY ethics. It is a proposal that rejects polish in favour of a raw, punk-driven energy, conceived for the stage and for direct confrontation with the audience. Their presence on the grounds of Barroselas was, therefore, almost inevitable.
